Sustainability Policy

Sustainability Policy

POLICY STATEMENT

Lantech IT Services Ltd is committed to operating its business in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner. We recognise that, as a Managed Service Provider operating across Ireland and the United Kingdom, our activities — and the technology solutions we design, manage, and deliver on behalf of our clients — have environmental, social, and economic consequences.

We commit to minimising our negative environmental impact, using resources efficiently, extending the lifecycle of technology assets, and actively contributing to the transition to a low-carbon, circular economy. This commitment is not aspirational language; it is embedded in how we run our business, select our suppliers, and deliver services to our clients.

This policy is aligned with Ireland's Green Public Procurement Strategy and Action Plan 2024–2027, the Irish Climate Action Plan, the UK Government's Net Zero Strategy, and the Irish Circular Economy Act 2022. It applies to all Lantech employees, contractors, and key suppliers.

OUR SUSTAINABILITY PILLARS

Pillar Action
Environment We work to reduce the environmental impact of our operations by promoting energy-efficient technologies, minimising unnecessary hardware procurement, and favouring cloud-based and virtualised solutions that reduce physical infrastructure. We seek to reduce paper usage, manage electronic waste responsibly, and encourage suppliers who share our environmental values.
Social We are committed to fair employment practices, staff wellbeing, and equality of opportunity across our workforce. We engage positively with the communities in which we operate and strive to ensure that the digital services we deliver are accessible, inclusive, and ethically provided.
Governance We operate with integrity, in compliance with all applicable Irish and EU law, and in accordance with good governance standards. We maintain clear accountability for our sustainability commitments and report on progress annually. Our procurement decisions consider the sustainability credentials of our suppliers and subcontractors where practicable.
Digital Responsibility As a provider of IT managed services and cybersecurity solutions, we recognise that responsible digital practices are intrinsically linked to sustainability. We promote secure, efficient, and resilient IT infrastructure that reduces unnecessary resource consumption and supports our clients in achieving their own operational and compliance objectives.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENTS

Energy and Carbon — Our Own Operations

Lantech operates no on-premise server infrastructure in either of its offices. All internal systems — professional services automation, remote monitoring, communications, finance, and CRM — run on cloud platforms hosted by Microsoft Azure. Lantech holds Microsoft Solutions Partner for Azure Infrastructure (SMB) status. Microsoft Azure datacentres are powered by 100% renewable energy matching and are committed to being carbon negative by 2030. Our cloud-hosted internal infrastructure directly inherits these environmental commitments.

Lantech commits to the following energy and carbon actions:

  • Maintain a cloud-only internal operations model — no on-premise server infrastructure in any Lantech office, now or in the future
  • Select office locations that are accessible by public transport, cycling, or on foot, avoiding locations that necessitate car-dependent commuting
  • Conduct all routine meetings (internal and client-facing) via Microsoft Teams by default; on-site visits only where genuinely necessary
  • Establish a Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions baseline for Lantech's Irish and UK operations by Q1 2027, using the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard
  • Set a quantified carbon reduction target for 2030 following baseline establishment, aligned with Ireland's 51% public sector emissions reduction target
  • Report progress against carbon commitments annually from 2027 in a publicly available Sustainability Report

Travel and Transport

Lantech's primary operational carbon exposure is employee and engineer travel. We manage this through:

  • Remote-first support: over 90% of client support issues are resolved remotely via managed helpdesk and RMM toolset — on-site visits are a last resort
  • Staff in both Dublin and London offices are actively encouraged to commute by public transport, cycling, or walking. Both office locations are within 200 metres of major public transport infrastructure (Luas Quays, Dublin; Tottenham Court Road, London)
  • Lantech participates in the Cycle to Work scheme for all eligible Irish-based staff
  • No car parking subsidy is provided at either office location
  • Business travel by air is avoided where an alternative (video conferencing, rail) is reasonably available
  • Where vehicle travel is required for service delivery, staff are encouraged to use low or zero emission vehicles; Lantech will support EV transition for staff vehicles from 2027

Hardware, E-Waste, and the Circular Economy

Lantech's managed IT model creates direct circular economy value by extending the operational life of technology assets and managing responsible end-of-life disposal:

  • Lifecycle extension: Lantech's proactive maintenance, patch management, and performance optimisation routinely extends client device lifespans by 18–24 months beyond unmanaged equivalents, reducing hardware procurement frequency and e-waste generation
  • Strategic refresh planning: Lantech provides clients with 3–5 year hardware roadmaps prioritising lifecycle extension over premature replacement
  • WEEE compliance: All end-of-life hardware managed through Lantech is disposed of exclusively via WEEE-compliant channels. Refurbishment and donation are the preferred outcomes; certified recycling is the minimum. No hardware managed by Lantech is disposed of to general landfill
  • Asset register: Lantech maintains a register of all client and internal assets disposed of, including disposal pathway and certificate of destruction where applicable
  • Cloud migration: Lantech's cloud migration practice removes physical on-premise infrastructure from client sites, replacing energy-intensive hardware with shared, highly efficient cloud resources. Clients typically reduce infrastructure costs by 25% on migration — with corresponding reductions in hardware volume, cooling, and energy use

Paper, Waste, and Office Operations

  • Lantech maintains a paperless office policy at both locations. No printers operate in either office. All documentation — contracts, proposals, invoices, HR records, reports — is managed electronically via Microsoft 365 and DocuSign
  • No single-use plastics are purchased for office use
  • Waste separation and recycling is provided at both office locations in compliance with local waste regulations (Dublin: Circular Economy Act 2022; London: Environment Act 2021)
  • Procurement decisions for office consumables prioritise recycled, sustainably sourced, and low-packaging products
