Leaders from several Ireland-based Managed Service Providers got together this week for an exclusive dinner in Dublin. On the menu, alongside the food, were meaningful conversations about the Irish IT industry, its challenges, its future, the importance of diversity and inclusion and women in leadership.

One of the key figures involved in organising the event was Peter Strahan, Managing Director of Dublin-based Lantech. Strahan’s involvement with networking groups in both the UK and the US has convinced him that collaboration, discussion and the sharing of insights can be pivotal in the development of a strong and resilient tech sector.

Strahan believes the inaugural event in Dublin will demonstrate the potential of networking to key figures working within the Irish MSP industry. Alongside Nostra’s Kevin O’Loughlin, Intuity’s Seamus Quinn and Nicholas O’Donovan from Huntress, he was delighted to welcome both David Tulip, MD of Network Group and Dan Scott, Community Manager for IT Nation to speak to the gathering.

Feedback from the leaders attending the event has been very positive. Comments included several about the quality of the discussions and the need for more of the same. Strahan said, ‘We were clear in our invitations that our aim was high-level, quality engagement with C-level executives, and I’m happy to report that’s exactly what we got. It’s refreshing to see how businesses that, on the face of it, are competitors can still enjoy mutually beneficial relationships.’

As to what happens next, Strahan was equally positive, saying that he came away from the evening believing that the kernel of an effective community had been created. ‘The Dublin dinner was just the start of the process by which we will raise the profile of the Irish tech sector, its expertise and its committed people. The Group is open to any MSP’s who wish to be involved.’
